Grade / Age recommendation
Pre-primary / Primary / Grade 1
Dancers range in age from 5-7 years
Grade 2 / Grade 3 / Grade 4
Dancers range in age from 8-10 years
Grade 5 and Grade 6
Dancers range in age from 11-12 years
Intermediate / Advanced 1-2
Dancers from 13 years
Darwin School of Ballet prepares all dancers for annual Cecchetti Classical Ballet exams. Exams are conducted by Cecchetti Ballet Australia with an independent interstate examiner attending. Exams are designed to give the dancer strong technique, musicality and artistry that is built upon gradually right up to our pre-professional exams - Intermediate and Advanced 1-2. All Cecchetti Classical Ballet exams are nationally and internationally recognised, with the pre-professional exams being a pre-entry requirement for some Tertiary dance courses.
Grade 1 – Grade 4 must attend 2 lessons per week from the beginning of the year to be eligible for exams.
Grade 5 – Grade 6 must attend 3 lessons per week from the beginning of the year to be eligible for exams.
Intermediate, Advanced 1-2 – must attend 3 lessons per week to be eligible for exams.
EXAMS
Our annual concert, traditionally held in November, is the highlight of the year for all dancers and parents.
We are proposing to perform CINDERELLA at CDU Theatre, mid November 2025. If you require any additional information please email heath.lisa@bigpond.com
CONCERT
10-14 MARCH 2025 - Sharrynne Glover will be our Guest Teacher for our senior classes for the week.
10 MAY 2025 - Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival we have been invited to perform at this wonderful Festival.
23-27 JUNE 2025 - Carole Hall Clinic, Carole Hall was White Lodge Royal Ballet trained; danced with The Royal Ballet; is a Senior Examiner with Cecchetti Ballet Australia; is a panel member of the Cecchetti Grade 1-6 syllabi; and was Chairperson for Cecchetti Ballet Australia for 21 years.
11-20 JULY 2025 - Darwin Fringe Festival we have also been invited to perform as part of this amazing Festival.
10-13 AUGUST 2025 - Exams, our examiner this year will be Valerie Jenkins, Sydney.
